Boko Haram’s days are numbered —Chief of Air Staff

THE Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sodique Abubakar, yesterday, said that the days of the Boko Haram sect were numbered, stressing the commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces to stop the activities of terrorists in the country.

The Air Force boss, who expressed optimism that the provisions made for the Nigerian Air Force in the 2016 budget would improve its operations, said that the war against terror was at its “tail end.”

Abubakar stated this shortly after commissioning a medical laboratory at the NAF 81 Maritime Group in Benin City, Edo State.

He said: “We are at the tail end of the war against Boko Haram. One of their enclaves, Alagarnu, has just been taken over. I was in the North-East a few days ago and I believe that we are at the tail end of this operation.”

” Abubakar explained that the new projects, which include medical facilities,  were to add value to the already existing equipment, adding that the focus of the Air Force was to promote a professional service and the welfare of its personnel, in addition to training.

“The last time we came, we didn’t have a laboratory. But today, we have a well equipped laboratory. Professionalism  is not just about training and equipping the soldier but also taking care of the welfare of the soldier.

“A professional soldier can also fall sick. That is why we need to provide a laboratory, which we have done.”
