Exclusive Interview With Dj Frank - HOW DEY MADE IT


Francis Njenga,   is one of Kenya most celebrated Dj ( born In Kenya) better known by his stage name as the Game Changer, who uses music and Djying as a communication tool and platform to send relevant massages to the youth in kenya and in diaspora. He is a prominent figure in Reggae, dancehall , locals music and hip hop.  He has an exceptionally large personal over the youths on social media.


Kindly tell our readers who you are and where you were born originally, and maybe more about yourself.

My Real Name is Francis Njenga,my stage name is Frank the deejay aka the game changer
I am born in kenya. I am  also the second child in my family...I have a big brother who was part of the group Gospel Fathers (zaidi ya mziki) of the hit song fundi wa mbao.

Music is the communication tool and I use it to preach to young people and, also i am a footbal fanatic.


When did you take a start into djying and are you happy being a dj?

 I officially started in 2012 and  Of course am happy because am living my dream.


Considering that alot of djs are being on awards and nomination have you ever won any or be nominated

I have not won any awards... But i have been nominated in a couple of awards namely... groove awards 2015 as talent to watch, Mwafaka awards 2015 as Deejay of the year and also Xtreem awards as teenize deejay of year

You were at kubamba at first , how was it ?

 It was an amazing experience i thank God..

 What motivated you into your choosen profession and What genres of music are you best at?

What motivated me is my passion for music and serving God. I am good at Reggae,dancehall and locals .just basically people's music, i am very vasertile i play along with the mood of my audiences..Am called for the common people



 What challenges do you encounter as a dj ?

The challenges  i face  sometimes  are, gigs are very few in town and one have to work harder to get some , also  deejay kit are expensive and lastly event organizers sometimes wanalipa late sana  (smile)

 Where do your see you self in the next 10 years:?

Of course 10 years older  (smile), that was on a lighter note..Well i would have ventured into tv and radio production..I want to create opportunities for the young deejays and musicians who will come after me...

What advise do you have  for the youths who aspires to be a dj?

My encouragement kwa ma youth yani ma ghetto youts... Maaze please don't engage kwa wizi..work for your money..Weka Sir God mbele kila kitu itakua sawa...
