The leadership of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has pledged to support the effort of the Management of Kaduna Electric to make the Company a role model in the Nigerian electricity Supply industry.
The General Secretary of the Union, Comrade Joe Ajero made the assertion today in Kaduna while leading other national officers of the Union on a courtesy visit to the Managing Director/CEO of Kaduna Electric.
Mr. Ajero contended that “even though the labour movement have reservations on certain government policies as they affects the power sector, the workers shall continue to put in their productive efforts to make meet its obligations to all stakeholders”.
He disclosed that “the Union does not engage in power tussle with the investors, government agencies or the Management of the distribution companies, but that they shall not sit on the fence watching workers rights being infringed upon by anybody or from any quarters”.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Managing Director/CEO of Kaduna Electric, Engineer Garba Haruna revealed that the Company recognises the significant role of a well trained and motivated workforce.
He further called on the leadership of the National Union of Electricity Employees and the entire membership of the Union to consider themselves as co-owners of the electricity industry as none of the party can do without the other.
“The Company cannot do without the workers and the Union will automatically go into extinction if the Company cease to exist”, the electricity boss contended.
Engineer Garba also charged the labour leaders to mobilise and galvanise the workforce for greater productivity as the industry is faced with myriad of challenges threatening it very survival while assuring that Kaduna Electric accords importance to its staff welfare and well-being.
