Gbajabiamila- One year not enough to assess Buhari achievements

The Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, says Nigerians should not be hasty to assess President Muhammadu Buhari’s performance in office.
Gbajabiamila, in a statement issued on Sunday, said one or two years were too short to assess Buhari because the damage done by the previous government was too much.
The All Progressives Congress lawmaker, who is representing Surulere constituency 1, gave an assessment of the Buhari government during a town hall meeting in Lagos.

He said, “I know, for those who believe in the potential of our country, that this country will bounce back. It is just a matter of time. You cannot assess a sitting President in one or two years. You can assess his (Buhari) government after four years. Our President is doing the right thing.”
Reacting to Gbajabiamila’s comments in an interview with our correspondent on Sunday, human rights activist, Mr. Olufemi Aduwo, slammed the lawmaker for saying one year was too short to assess the President.
Aduwo said the APC should stop giving excuses and communicate hope to Nigerians rather than blame the previous government for its failures.
“The APC government should hit the ground running and alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians. President Muhammadu Buhari wasted his first five months which would have been used to make tangible achievements. Anti-corruption is not the only reason why Nigerians voted the APC into power. The party should get serious and fulfil its promises,” he said.
