The wife of the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, has been kidnapped. Emefiele’s wife was kidnapped on Friday according to Sahara Reporters.
The online news medium claims that Emefiele’s wife was abducted by yet to be identified persons along the Benin-Agbor road.
A source close to the CBN governor is said to have disclosed to the medium that Mrs Emefiele’s abductors have gotten in touch with her husband to demand a huge sum of money as ransom.
The abduction of Emefiele’s wife sadly underscores a major security problem that has worsened in recent months.
A number of high-profile kidnap cases have been recorded in Lagos, Rivers, Enugu and other states in recent weeks.
