The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Strategy to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, has faulted those criticising the state government over the demolition of shanties and criminals’ hideouts in some parts of the state.
Ajanaku noted that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was not interested in making life difficult for the poor, adding that the moves were part of the plans to transform the state and turn it into a megacity.
According to a statement issued on Monday, Ajanaku said this when he received a delegation of young professionals at his office.
The youth were led by Mr. Wale Adelakun, an ex-president of the Student Union Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Akure.
The governor’s aide urged Lagosians to continue to support the state government, adding that many projects that would transform the state were in the pipeline.
He said, ‘The decision of the state government to embark on the demolition of shanties and criminals’ hideouts is in line with the vision of the government to develop Lagos to a megacity status. Ambode’s vision and burden is similar to that of Lee Kuan Yew, the father of modern Singapore, who set out with an infrastructural revolution in Singapore.”
