The Governor elect of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki has revealed that no member of the opposition will make his cabinet.
He said “I will not be able to accept anybody from the opposition political parties as a commissioner in my cabinet.”
According to Punch, Obaseki said they used the non-payment of Edo pensioners’ salary as a propaganda tool during the campaign.
“Some people took advantage of the electioneering and tried to get at us. People had hoped that with the anxiety to win election, we would have resolved the issues,” Obaseki said.
He said he has no reservation when it comes to sharing his vision for the state with the opposition, but they won’t have any office in his government.
This is a sharp contrast from his mentor, Adams Oshiomhole, who appointed some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)members when he assumed office in 2008.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared Godwin Obaseki as the winner of the Edo governorship election which held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.
