Sheriff allegedly offers Police IG N180m to stop PDP flag-off ceremony - Ondo Election


Embattled Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff allegedly offered Police IG N180 million to stop the party's Ondo election flag-off scheduled for today, Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Citing a source close to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, Leadership newspapers reports that Sheriff approached the IGP through his close friend, one Mallam Inuwa.
He was said to have asked the police boss to help him stop the gubernatorial flag-off ceremony of Eyitayo Jegede, who emerged the PDP candidate in the forthcoming Ondo governorship election under Ahmed Makarfi leadership.
While Jimoh Ibrahim, who won the party's primary election under Sheriff's faction, is also planning to kick-off his own campaign.
The source claimed that Sheriff took the money to his friend's house in Maitama, Abuja, adding that the IGP is expected to give instruction to the Police Command in the state to seal off the venue of the flag off.
