Terrible floods in Owode Onirin, ikorodu road, Lagos state.

Areas affected by the flood

A 33 year old man , graduate and unemployed Agric and power engineer ,  living around Owode, Ajegunle area in Lagos state, reported a  case  of  tragic flood.

I am writing this with a heavy heart to let the world know the plight of the people living in the Owode, Ajegunle and other environs due to the yearly floods that falls upon us without any sign and warning.

He  told Topstories.ng  they learnt that the flood is usually  from a dam in neighboring Ogun state and the Lagos state government have refused to do anything about it, he added that the nearby river has over flooded and has spilled into residential areas entering into houses and shops making human and vehicle movement almost impossible.

When  asked  via whatsApp  if the community leaders are aware of  the yealy flood, he  responded below:

I believe some landlords must have made formal complaints to the local government council or even to the state government but the massive flooding still persist.

Abandoned Church due to the flooding

However, he lamented, saying " I didn't plan staying in this environment for long" and that  he wouldn't have reported this issue ,  but  due to the fact that the flood usually drives creeping things like snakes and other closer into people homes, therefore, "I decided to file this report because I believe that If govt are pushed and reminded of this bitter experiences,  they can do something about it" he said.

Flooding inside a compound

Topstories.ng asked him  if there has  been any fatal destruction made to properties and  life:

Abandoned property due to flood

He said "Yes  most homes are already flooded and some others have been abandoned by their owners or occupants but no death has been  recorded from the flooding" as the time of this report.

He concluded that, there are so many solutions that  can be implemented to stop the flood; eg. The nearby river can be dredged and the flood can be handled or controlled from the source.

He finally appealed to governor Ambode to come to their rescue.
