CRISIS ON OAU CAMPUS AS REGARD AN ATTEMPTED RAPE CASE

Report has it that on Friday, 12th of November 2016, a female student from the faculty of education accused one Mr. Zabath of attempting to rape her at SUB.

Various students reacted to this allegation and agreed to meet at SUB security room for the moderation of the case.
On getting to the union building yesterday, TOPSTORIES,ng correspondent met with the chairman of the electoral commission in person of  Fadele Olusola (Showbaba) who was quoted saying

"I was briefed about the case this morning and I'm yet to see the parties involved, but I can assure you
that the case will be properly moderated".

On getting to the newly appointed CSO of the students union security committee appointed by the electoral commission (although the appointment is questioned and not accepted by some members of the commission) in person of Tripple A was also quoted saying that

"I am the CSO of the union security committee appointed by the chairman of the electoral commission, I was here at SUB the day this alleged act happened and till now, no case has been formally reported but I promise great ife student that justice will prevail" he said.

As various persons arrived at the building between the hours of 9am-1pm, several calls were put across to the accused (ZABATH) and the victim that failed to avail themselves for moderation of the case.

Students reacted to this with several opinions. A graduate of law called Comrade Bona says "l am a graduate law and I was taught about rape.

It is a sensitive matter, one need to be very careful when addressing such case. No one will be happy to see his sister in this case, my interest in this matter is for justice to prevail. Let the accused show up, defend himself and if he refuses, he can be declared wanted.

" he said. He also told the Tripple A (assigned to be the moderator of the case) that posterity masters in life. Another student from the faculty of law known as Marshall accused Tripple A of being bias for delaying the moderation. Tripple A then put a call accrossed again to the accused, Zabath (this time the phone was in loud speaker) who promised to be at the building in ten minutes but failed to do so. Hon.

Bams also showed displeasure by saying "we have things to do and some people should not try to play on our intelligence, I have not come here because I have personal issues with anyone, I have just come to witness justice" he said.

Another student then submitted that without the accused and the victim no case can be moderated.
The CSO, Tripple A then postponed the moderation, he promised that investigation will continue and the day for moderation will be properly communicated to students.

Later in the afternoon, our correspondent heard that the accused (Zabath) was on campus.

Members of the left organisations like Hon. Ibk, Comrade Uzo, Micheal Lenin and EOE amongst others also came to the students union building claiming that the victim want justice, her security is not guaranteed in SUB. In other word, the victim will like the case to be moderated at Mozambique hall. Hon.

Ibk who spoke with our correspondent says "you can't expect her to come to SUB where
someone attempted to rape her, she doesn't trust the union and justice must prevail".

Another left member says "this is not the first time the accused person will be found ungodly matters, Zabath is not clean, let him come around to defend himself." The left members then went to mobilize students from other halls to Mozambique hall.

Another call was then put across to him by a member of the electoral petition known among student as USB. Speaking in Yoruba, he was quoted saying

"Egbon ibo lewa, ema bo ni sinsin, awon guys tin binu, emabo emabo". In other words "Brother, where are you, come around now, guys are getting annoyed, start coming". After the phone conversation, we were briefed that the accused said he is in his faculty.

After some minutes, students began to move to Mozambique hall. While going, our correspondent heard some persons saying they have a record evidence of where the accused was begging for the case not to be moderated, although all efforts to get this evidence prove abortive as they refused to grant us access to he evidence which cannot make us affirm whether the recording was true or
defamation of the accused personality.

On getting to Moz, Omole Ibukun (Hon. Ibk) stood to address the students about the incident, while he was doing this, Adedayo Ayoade (Tripple) rushed to stop him from addresing the Mozambique residents. Unfortunately, the left organisations mega phone was smashed down by a student who belonged to the camp of Tripple A.

This led to physical combat between left members like Micheal Lenin, John, EOE, Uzo and so on against Tripple A, Tbams and some unknown camp members.

After a long period of violence, the school management security arrived and instructed every male students to vacate the hostel.

Different things unfold at Anglomoz as a popular comedian known as Opa and Comrade Olamide engaged themselves in another round of phisical combat.

Ay sug was quoted saying "in the tradition of OAU, cases are either moderated at SUB or Awolowo hall"
Levuz led the female students as they protested shouting "we want justice". Several submission were given and the Chaiman of the electoral commission (SHOWBABA) said the case will be moderated before the end of Wednesday which the Mozambique residents responded "NO".

The office of the Division of Students Affairs, has also warned all students against ungodly act which are against matriculation oath. The office has also informed students that investigation is going on as regard the matter.
