The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim
Idris, has instituted a 15-man panel tasked with the responsibility of investigating the
alleged phone recordings of Governor Nyesome Wike and the violence
recorded during the December 10, 2016 election in Rivers State,to be headed by a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Damien Okoro,
Other elements of the panel include
intelligence, investigative and forensic experts and the
Department of State Services.
At the inauguration of the
panel on Thursday in Abuja, Mr Ibrahim Idris told the Panel to consult all
relevant stakeholders, including the Rivers State Government, citizens,
the Civil Society Organisations and the Independent National Electoral
Commission in the investigation.
