EFCC) has seized Abuja estate from an associate of former national security adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has seized all 18 houses in an Abuja estate from an associate of former national security adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
The anti-graft agency had earlier listed Alhaji Aliyu Usman and 2 companies associated with him – Leaderettehe Nigeria Limited and Nordeen Global Resources – as some of the 300 beneficiaries of funds diverted by Dasuki while in office.
Usman was said to have received N897m from former NSA and allegedly used it to build the Abuja estate. He also allegedly used some of the money to purchase a 3-bedroom flat at OAU Quarters, Wuse 2, Abuja.
The inscription, ‘EFCC, Keep Off!’ was seen on the 18 terrace houses in the Abuja estate which is located at Mbora District of the Federal Capital Territory.
A statement from the EFCC read in part: “The EFCC is investigating the involvement of Aliyu Usman, who is linked with Leaderettehe Nigeria Limited and Nordeen Global Resources for their involvement in the monumental fraud that allegedly took place in the Office of the National Security Adviser during the regime of the embattled Col. Sambo Dasuki.”
committee set up to probe contracts awarded by the NSA from 2011 to 2015 had last year indicted more than 300 companies and prominent citizens including serving and retired officers of the armed forces.
Mallam Garba Shehu, a spokesperson for President Muhammadu Buhari, had said in March last year that over N7bn had been recovered so far from the indicted companies and individuals.
Former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman, Chief Olisa Metuh and spokesman for the failed Jonathan/Sambo presidential campaign team, Femi Fani-Kayode are facing trial in connection with the diversion of funds from the office of the NSA.
Some other persons and companies are are also under prosecution by the EFCC for their alleged role in the scam while according to the Punch, a few others have since fled the country.
