The leadership of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has lashed out at President Muhammadu Buhari for broaching the issue of Biafra while addressing youth corps members of Igbo extraction serving in Katsina State.
MASSOB leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu stated that it was insensitive of the President to single out Ndigbo within the corps members that paid him the Sallah visit and remind them of the terrible experience of their forebears during the 30-month old war for freedom,Vanguard reports.
“Telling the Igbo youth corps members to inform their fellow Igbo youths in MASSOB to stop Biafran agitation, shows that he (Buhari) directly recognizes the corps members as Biafrans,”Comrade Madu said.
“Buhari still erroneously thinks that with his kinsmen in vital positions in the military, he will easily crush Biafra. MASSOB views Buhari’s constant negative comments on Biafra as a way of reawakening consciousness among Biafrans, even as he is jittery and unsteady about our doggedness towards actualizing our lofty dream.
“We want President Buhari to continue to make similar statements that aptly express his frustration. No man can crush Biafra because God, history and humanity are on our side.”
He reiterated that the arrest and detention of Nnamdi Kanu, as well as the killing, persecution, prosecution, suppression and oppression of Biafrans would never quench the agitation for sovereignty.
Similarly, MASSOB Coordinator for Abia South region, Okporie Nkama also said that the people of the old Eastern region are nearing the promised land as Biafra would soon be actualized.
According to him, the actualization of Biafra had passed the stage where anyone could abort it as the dream of having an independent state of Biafra would soon be achieved.
Meanwhile, the Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has chastised President Buhari for releasing notorious Boko Haram leader Kabiru Umar alias Kabiru Sokoto, from prison, despite the Federal Government’s denial of this action.
IPOB condemned FG’s release of Sokoto, the alleged masterminding of the bombing of Madala, Niger State on Christmas Day of 2011, while refusing to grant their leader, Nnamdi Kanu unconditional release from prison.
They wondered that whereas Sokoto was convicted by a competent court and sentenced to life imprisonment, why should Kanu who was only spuriously charged be held in detention?
