SHOCK AS AFRICAN CHAMPIONS, "SUPER FALCONS" PROTEST NON-PAYMENT OF ALLOWANCE

BBC reports, African champions  Super Falcons  staged a sit-in protest in an Abuja hotel  on Tuesday demanding their entitlements for winning the African Women’s  Cup of Nations in Cameroon on Saturday from the Nigeria Football Federation,

The team  clinched their eighth African title  with a 1-0 win over hosts Cameroon.

“We are tired of the lies and false promises from the NFF,” one player, who insisted on anonymity, told BBC Sport.
It was gathered that since March, the Coach, Super Falcons  Florence Omagbemi and her assistants received only a month’s salary.
The NFF  said in a statement - “We will pay you all monies you are being owed as soon as we receive same from the government.”

In an interview with Telefoot, Eto’o ruled out a return to the squad for the African Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers because of his age. “Oh no! I’m a little old for that … There’s a young generation. Even if they have almost the same age with me,” said Eto’o. Now 35, Eto’o first played against Nigeria in 1997 at the LG Cup in Tunis, before two appearances at the African Cup of Nations in 2000 and 2004. He scored two goals in those three matches against the Super Eagles.
