I AM ZABARTH, AND NOT A RAPIST NOR A CULTIST

As much as I’ve firstly found it not worth it to give response to the uprising and uproar that has erupted in the university community disrupting the serenity of the school as it all has been libelously and slanderously hinged on my name and person, my respect for the body of students, a body I was actively part of until my recent official valediction from the system begs the necessity to respond to the issue at hand.
Having spent the years I was able to spend not only as a student of OAU but also in service to the Students’ Union of the Great Awovarsity, I have learnt out of classroom that the true test of a leader is not just in responsibility but in responsiveness, however, when the call beckons, a patient heart may be employed in giving observations, watching and listening before responding following the principle of “be quick in listening but hesitant in responding”. To this respect, I gave keen watch to the political discord attached falsely to an allegation I AM INNOCENT OF.
It may or may not interest anyone to understand the fact that I have served the OAU Students’ Union and have earned the respect of service upon credence. This may be a template to build up any defamation. Any man at the top should not be alien to or surprised of defamation of character and propaganda. From the foregoing, it can be established that it has been all about the political interests of an aggrieved sect, upon facts that all public statements provided so far have only been from a group of persons who are in no way related to the plaintiff or the accused but have devised a means to engage in character defamation, incitement of the public to violence as well as stirring public unrest. A case between two parties, how come it has been a crisis of the third party all along?
Before the turmoil centered on this allegation against my person, the strife to become the transitory and interim front-liner of the union by some persons who gave the feats of being the Chief Electoral Officer its desperation but were shockingly at the losing end at polls may not be alienated from the crisis at hand. In a testimony by one Dosunmu Kamal aka Karl Max, a very close friend of Sporo (Electoral commissioner of Faculty of Social Sciences) and a pal of Bam (Electoral Commissioner of Basic Medical Sciences) who both contested for the office of the chairman of the commission, Karl Max who contested and lost in Faculty of Arts for electoral officer stated categorically that the interest of his two friends in becoming the electoral chairman was the SUB bar (Audio evidence available). This is hinged upon fact that Bam’s candidacy was sponsored by one Mr Afolabi (Vice dean of DSA) and Abiola Booster (a security officer of the university) while Sporo’s candidacy was sponsored by one SOJ who co-owned the SUB bar alongside Booster (a close friend of Goddey who is the godfather of the leftists who have been co-championing this crisis alongside Sporo and Bam) following the reopening of SUB in 2014. I may not deny the fact that I pronely supported the eviction of this duo upon premise that having a school security officer managing the Students’ Union bar is much as accommodating a spy as the bar serves as a joint for discussion of union matters and at such, the school authority will be privy to information about the day to day activities of the union. Howbeit that the same bar was being locked up during this crisis, does that not leave room for a smell of foul play?
MY OWN SIDE OF THE STORY
On the said date, I was charging my phone at SUB in a room where three girls were reading. I later moved to another room where a lady was lying on mattress and was where I got chatting with the girl that accused me and we spoke for almost 10 minutes and I left. By the time I came later in the day, accusations were already made against my personality. I waited for the girl for hours but she refused to show up but I heard it from grapevine that some of my political oppositions took her to the leftists. A moderation was summoned by the security committee which I availed myself but the lady never showed up. To my utter dismay, my picture was attached to a defaming piece declaring me wanted by the left, an unfounded group with no rights of operation on OAU campus as they remained registered by no body in the institution, no staff adviser nor a legal frame of operation in the university community. Even after being declared wanted, I still showed up on campus almost everyday making myself in sight of this defamers yet no one made any move to arrest me.
According to the Nigerian Criminal Code Act, Section 373 states that “defamation matters is matter likely to injure reputation of any person by exposing him to hatred, contempt, ridicule, or likely to damage any person in his profession or trade by an injury to his reputation”.
Section 375 states the penalty which is “any person who publish any defamatory matter is guilty of a misdemeanour, and is liable to imprisonment for one year and any person who publishes any defamatory matter knowing it is false is liable to imprisonment for two years.
In addition, as regards the case of IBK an Levuz inciting attack on Moz excos based on the assistance rendered to the school management in taking the lady to Gender and Equality in investigating the matter, Section 44 of the Nigerian Criminal Code Act: Inciting to Mutiny states that “Any person who advisedly attempts to effect any of the following purposes, that is to say
b) to incite any such persons to commit an act of mutiny or any traitorous or mutinous act; or
c) to incite any such persons to make or endeavour to make a mutinous assembly; is guilty of a felony, and is liable to imprisonment for life.
CASE OF THREAT
So far, there have been two allegations of threat to life against me; one by Moshood and the other by Michael Lenin, an audio recording of the argument on the libelous accusation is available which also reveals the pally rapport we had even with my magnanimity in attempting to buy him a bottle of water in the process. The accusation is faulty, false and baseless. On the other hand, the case of Moshood is not a surprise following his past hunger for popularity which even made his very good friend, Emma sometimes ago stated that he can paste his own obituary for popularity. His role in this case to me is nothing more than a zero, even those who steered up the case were not being threatened such as Gani and Ibile who reported the case to the “left” and the friend of the girl Sojo, a member of the security committee who brought the case to the CSO for moderation, so what could have been the premise for threatening Moshood? I have not had any contacts with Moshood and his calls to me on the acclaimed threatening day were not received as I was busy attending to something and someone of value. The one-sided reportage by some journalists in this regard is the only shocker I have for the appall of journalism on campus.
